Those prefer a wood-look flooring, but for some reason aren’t ready for the real thing, often turn first to laminate flooring. It does a fantastic job of mimicking the real solid hardwood grains and textures, but you can also choose the natural stone or porcelain tile looks as well. These appearances are also incredibly authentic and many of your guests won’t know the difference.

Laminate gives you the option to choose either glue down materials or a click and lock system that creates a floating floor. Not only does this system make the installation process easier and faster, but it also helps to reduce moisture and unwanted sounds. Adding an underlayment can go further, increasing comfort and stability, especially in areas where there is a lot of standing in one place.

Keeping this floor covering looking its best isn’t hard to do with daily sweeping and mopping. You can go a step further to add area rugs or floor runners. These not only help to catch dirt and debris when placed in the right areas, but they can also be situated underneath furniture to reduce floor scratching if the furniture is moved or shifted. A water-resistant version of laminate is available, but if you don’t choose that option, make sure to avoid spills and dampness as much as is possible. If spills do happen, even with a water-resistant floor, be sure they’re cleaned up quickly and completely and you shouldn’t have to worry.
